An announcement bar is a promotional strip: a message, an optional discount code, and a link. Create as many as you need and show each one wherever you like. Find them under Grow order value → Announcement bar.

How they work

Everything about a bar (content, style, behaviour) lives in the CartSella app. The theme block only decides which bar to show and its spacing, so the same bar looks identical everywhere you place it. Each bar can hold several messages. With more than one, you choose how they cycle: With a single message the mode selector is hidden, and the page tells you that adding a second one turns it into a carousel.

Setting one up

Create the bar

Go to Grow order value → Announcement bar and click Add announcement bar.

Name it and turn it on

Give it an Internal name (private, only you see it in the admin) and turn on Show announcement bar.

Write the messages

Add your messages. Each one can carry its own link, which turns that message into a clickable link.

Pick a display mode

Carousel, Ticker or All at once. Only shown once you have more than one message.

Add a discount code (optional)

Enter the code and a Code label, which defaults to “Use code”. Shoppers click the chip to copy the code.

Add a call to action (optional)

Choose Link to a URL, then set the call-to-action text and the URL.

Set the display options

Style (Banner full width, or Pill centered chip), alignment, font size, dismiss memory, whether shoppers can dismiss it, and uppercase text.

Set the colours

Turn on Use theme colors to inherit your theme’s palette, or set the background, text and accent colours yourself. The accent colour applies to the code chip and links.

Save and place it

Click Add bar to theme to drop the CartSella — Announcement block into a section, then paste the bar ID. Save your changes here first.

Dismiss memory

Controls how long a dismissal sticks for the same shopper:
  • Browser session, so it re-shows on the next visit.
  • Daily, so it re-shows the next day.
  • Never remember, so it always shows.
Session dismissal feels much less naggy than showing the bar again on every page load, and it costs you almost nothing in reach.

Localized messages

Your message is translated into Portuguese, Spanish, French, German and Italian when you save. English, and any other locale, sees the base message. Translations appear on the page after the first save.

Placing it

Add the CartSella — Announcement block to a section, usually near the top of your theme, and paste the bar ID. Leaving the ID blank uses the first bar. If you would rather place it yourself, the page gives you an Embed anywhere snippet you can paste into any section of your theme. The CartSella app embed must be enabled for the snippet to render. See Storefront blocks.

Tips

  • One clear message beats five. Only rotate when each message earns its place.
  • A discount code chip converts better than burying the code in prose.
  • Use theme colours so the bar reads as part of the store rather than as an app.
  • Do not run a bar, a countdown timer and a floating button on the same page. Pick one urgency cue.
